Biomimetic inventions have an impact in the fields of hi-tech, pharma, textiles, water resources, energy, and more. Once a biomimetic innovation has been identified or discovered that has a potential market, applying for a patent should be considered. Mr. Cohen will review the basics of patenting inventions, including the requirements for novelty, non-obviousness, and usefulness.   In addition, challenges and pitfalls of trying to patent biomimetic innovations will be presented.
